How to hire me: FAQ

Commissioning Custom Art

For over 30 years I have worked with collectors, designers, and businesses to create custom works of art designed specifically for the spaces they inhabit.

Commissions range from intimate pieces for private homes to large-scale installations for restaurants, architectural interiors, and exterior environments. Each project begins with a conversation about the space, the atmosphere you want to create, and the ideas that inspire you.

To understand the process, here are a few helpful things to think about before we begin.

Location

Where will the artwork live?
A living room, bedroom, office, restaurant, beach house, or exterior wall?

The environment determine materials, scale, and installation.

Scale

Small, medium, or large?

Exact measurements are helpful so the artwork integrates naturally with the space.

Atmosphere & Color

Do you envision a bold statement piece or something more quiet and reflective?

Once we establish the feeling of the work, I develop color studies that harmonize with your space.

Subject Matter

Botanical forms, sacred imagery, animals, abstract pattern, or purely decorative movement.

I welcome ideas and inspiration as a starting point. Each piece is created as a unique original.

Commission Investment

Pricing is determined by scale, complexity, materials, and installation requirements.

Once we discuss the concept and scope of the project, I provide a commission quote. Payment schedules are available for larger works.

Timeline

Establishing a timeline early helps ensure the work has the time it needs to develop thoughtfully.

Process

The process begins with a concept sketch for your review. After approval, I develop the color direction and begin the original work, sharing progress images along the way so the piece evolves collaboratively.

Occasionally clients offer very broad direction — simply inviting me to create something beautiful for their space. Other collectors enjoy a more collaborative dialogue throughout the process. Both approaches are welcome.

After more than three decades of painting, creating custom work for collectors remains one of the most rewarding parts of my practice.
